MichPakVersity seeks to strengthen the research culture and capacity of institutions in Pakistan and to enhance the academic, research, and knowledge exchange environment for faculty in Pakistani universities with Universities in Michigan. The program will also promote understanding of American history and culture through exposure to the success of U.S. institutes of higher education in addressing the needs of minority students. The program began as a virtual program in 2022 with over 50 Pakistani professors and administrators meeting with professors and administrators from universities such as Wayne State University, Michigan State University, Oakland University, and the University of Michigan. In April 2023, fourteen (14) Pakistani administrators and faculty members are invited to take part in an 8-day in-person exchange in Southeast Michigan to meet with their American counterparts, participate in workshops and other programming, and work on joint research proposals. Pakistani and Michigan-based alumni of the program will be encouraged to take advantage of ongoing virtual networking events and to continue to develop joint research proposals after the program concludes.
