Stay up to date with Global Ties Detroit!
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by Meridian International Center, PAYLP brings together over 150 anglophone and francophone high school students and adult mentors from across Africa for training centered around practical leadership and technical skills. From July 22nd to August 19th, Global Ties Detroit will be working together virtually with 20 francophone high school students and adult mentors from the Central African Republic, Chad, Guinea, and Togo. Along the way, they’ll connect with fellow American youths, hear from Detroit’s local leaders, and take part in cross cultural exchange with American host families.
PAYLP is part of a variety of Department of State programs, both virtual and in-person, that bring the world to Detroit. Providing Americans with invaluable experiences and insights from the diverse regions of Africa all the while promoting mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and African nations. PAYLP alumni have gone on to become leaders in their local communities and cite their experience with the program as being a part of their drive to make a difference.
