TechGirls is an international summer exchange program designed to empower and inspire young women from around the world to pursue careers in science and technology. Since 2012, TechGirls has trained and mentored 343 teenage girls (ages 15-17) from around the world.
In summer 2022, the program will support 111 young women from 36 participating countries and 25 U.S. peers in a dynamic four week U.S.-based experience with a 8-month mentoring program (including pre- and post-exchange). Participants will partake in an interactive technology and computer camp at the University of Virginia and then come to Detroit July 23-29 for job shadowing, homestay, and community service experiences.
Global Ties Detroit is recruiting local young women to participate in the exchange program, meeting other rising tech leaders from around the world while expanding their skills in coding, cybersecurity, and research. Applications are now open and close on January 15, 2022. We look forward to working with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and Legacy International on this important initiative!
