This September, Detroit was designated as the opening city for the Fall 2022 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program (YSEALI PFP). An exchange program to develop young emerging leaders who are invested in civic engagement, economic empowerment, sustainability, and the environment from across Southeast Asia. For one month, young leaders, 25–35 years old, from around Southeast Asia will work directly with their American counterparts in work placements across the country in public and private sector organizations. Global Ties Detroit hosted the fellows for their program orientation and our two fellows, Felix from Singapore and Dennis from the Philippines, are currently working at Velocity Incubator in Sterling Heights and International Strategic Management Inc. in Troy.
