The Environmental Engagement and Economy program is an International Visitor Leadership program sponsored, Mississippi Consortium for International Development administered program that will be focusing on exploring the efforts of government, civil society, and private sector factors to promote economic growth while protecting the environment. Global Ties Detroit will be hosting nine (9) English speaking participants from the Indo-Pacific and Central Asia that will be examining the factors that government policies and businesses take into consideration as they strive to ensure profitability and growth while being environmentally responsible. These participants will participate in discussions centered on U.S. efforts to promote improved understanding, assessment, prediction, and response to natural and human-induced disasters. They will also be visiting national and state park reserves to explore ecotourism development and conservation problems, as well as meeting with industry representatives to discuss environmental stewardship.
