21st Century Changemakers Disinformation and Conflict Resolution

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan

Global Ties Detroit is a project that focuses on building trust between the media, government, and citizens. This project demonstrates the seriousness of disinformation campaigns to domestic publics and highlights fact-checking, investigative journalism, and specialized polling to counter misleading information. The program will also be examining the rights and responsibilities of a free press in democracy and the principles and laws governing the press in the United States. In May 2023, we will be welcoming six (6) government officials and community leaders assessing ways in which collaboration across government, public, and private sectors works to address the disinformation threat. During their stay they will be meeting with USG officials at the Department of State, including the Global Engagement Center, DHS, NSC, and other agencies involved in combating disinformation and conflict resolution. They also will be participating in an interactive workshop on the latest theories and practices in conflict transformation and leadership and community mobilization.
