This fall, Global Ties Detroit will be hosting six (6) members of the Albanian State Police (ASP) participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) program designed to explore ways to promote safety and integrity in customs and border protection. They also will be examining the role of U.S. law enforcement and immigration agencies to ensure border safety, maintaining an orderly and transparent immigration system, and promoting security. The objectives of this program is to illustrate the roles of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, examine techniques to combat trafficking in persons and to prevent illegal entry, as well as discuss the role of stakeholders at the international, federal, state, and local levels, including challenges related to asylum-seeking procedures and immigrant assistance programs.
