    Murrow Investigative Journalism

    Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia

Each year, the U.S. Department of State's Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists brings more than 100 emerging international journalists from around the world to explore journalistic practices in the United States while gaining insights into American social, economic, and political structures. The Murrow program is an innovative public-private partnership between the Department of State, the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, and several leading U.S. schools of journalism.

While in Detroit, eleven (11) international journalists, editors, radio hosts, and CEOs from North Africa will meet with their professional counterparts to examine high-quality, transparently-financed infrastructure project case studies, learn about the Freedom of Information Act, and explore the role of journalists in a democracy. Meetings and site visits to small and medium-sized newsrooms will highlight the editorial process, effective use of social media, and strategies for soliciting advertising.
