Incorporating Youth in Addressing Historical Memory and Promoting a Just and Civil Society

    North Macedonia

Global Ties Detroit will be hosting ten (10) delegates from North Macedonia participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Meridian International Center program Incorporating Youth in Addressing Historical Memory and Promoting a Just and Civil Society. This delegation is a group of professionals who work in academia, NGO staffers, and lawyers who have experience working on issues related to minority issues. The objective of this program is for delegates to examine model programs in the U.S. that aim to to engage youth and minority populations in a variety of contexts including economic growth, civic activities, and political affairs. During their stay they will be meeting with elected officials to discuss how they are incorporating policies aimed at reconciling grievances between communities on a local level. They will also be visiting academic institutions and having discussions with civil society organizations to examine ways to further create tolerant communities.
