Global Ties Detroit will be hosting recently elected women political leaders from Tamil Nadu India. The objective of this program is to examine the U.S. political system and the participation of women leaders at the local, state, and national levels. They also will be demonstrating how women can work with counterparts across party lines to advocate for legislation and policy reforms on issues particularly affecting women and children. These women will be studying how U.S. stakeholders strengthen women’s rights, address barriers, and will be able to access resources that empower women to participate in the political process. They also will be participating in workshops focused on women’s leadership, networking, and coalition and alliance building.
