Global Ties Detroit will be partnering with The Congressional Office of International Programs Open World to host 5 media professionals and journalist participating in the Regional Journalism and Fighting Disinformation program. The Open World program is a unique, nonpartisan initiative of and funded by the United States Congress that builds mutual understanding between the emerging leaders of participating countries and their U.S. counterparts. The objective of this program aims to develop a network of leaders in journalism and media who are equipped to combat disinformation and enhance audience engagement through improved online platforms. Specifically targeting Lithuanian media professionals, the program seeks to strengthen their efforts against propaganda and support regional news. By exposing regional media leaders—such as editors, executives, and journalists—to U.S. media outlets, the program will emphasize the use of modern digital tools to effectively engage citizens and address the challenges faced by Lithuanian media in a disinformation-laden environment.
